Last summer, Freescale broke ground with the announcement of its MMA9550L Xtrinsic Motion Sensing Platform (see Evolving Intelligence with Sensors). This chip represents a new class of device which is sometimes referred to as an intelligent sensor hub. Collectively, the industry has just scratched the surface of the things to be accomplished with these devices. There’s a lot of opportunity to contribute from product, application and architectural perspectives. To help accelerate that trend, Freescale is one of the sponsors for the First International Workshop on Intelligent Sensor Hub (WISH 2011) to be held August 21-27, 2011 in Nice/Saint Laurent du Var, on the French Riviera. Held under the auspices of IARIA and hosted by SENSORDEVICES 2011, WISH 2011 is soliciting papers and tutorials from academia and industry on a variety of topics, including, but not limited to:
- Sensor data fusion
- Distributed sensor data processing
- Controllers and wireless sensor networks
- Motion sensing platforms
- Micro-Kalman filters
- Inertial Navigation
- Improved user interface
- Process control
- Robotics & Automation
- Remote monitoring/pointing devices
- Mobile and portable devices (phones, tablets..)
- Medical applications
- Industrial applications
I should mention that I’m a member of the Technical Program Committee for WISH 2011, and plan to contribute one (or more papers) to the workshop. I hope you do too.
